Fantasy football waiver wire additions: Eight players to pick up for NFL Week 12
As Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season concludes, we’re only left with the “Monday Night Football” game following the San Diego Chargers vs. Cincinnati Bengals matchup from “Sunday Night Football.”
Whether your fantasy football team is riding high at the top or struggling in the standings, there is still plenty of talent available to help you enhance your roster for the playoffs. You may find the next star player on the waiver wire that can fill in the gaps in your lineup next week.
Here are eight players you might consider picking up from the waiver wire this week:
Waiver Wire Targets Week 12
*All roster statistics are from Yahoo Sports
QB Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
(Rostered in 47% of leagues)
It’s time to give Richardson another look. The second-year QB was benched for two weeks but returned to start in Week 11, guiding the Colts to a 28-27 win over the New York Jets. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown while adding 10 carries for 32 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He accrued a season-high of 28.08 fantasy points and is lined up to start against the Detroit Lions.
TE Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills
(Rostered in 27% of leagues)
Knox was a popular pickup over the weekend and might still be available in your league. With Dalton Kincaid nursing a knee injury, Knox is expected to have an increase in playing time. However, the Bills are currently on a bye week, which might give Kincaid time to recover. It would be wise for managers with Kincaid to consider holding onto Knox as a backup option at tight end.
TE, QB Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
(Rostered in 54% of leagues)
Hill had an impressive game, leading New Orleans to a 35-14 victory over the Browns. With a total of 38.52 fantasy points, he rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries, besides contributing as both a passer and receiver. While Hill was a key part of the offense, it’s worth noting that his production can vary greatly week to week. Be sure to check what positions he is classified in your league.
QB Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
(Rostered in 50% of leagues)
If you’re hunting for a quarterback, Wilson could be your guy. He’s backed the Steelers to four consecutive victories, securing his spot as the starter, even with Justin Fields entering the game against the Ravens on Sunday. Wilson completed 23 of 36 passes for 205 yards and had one interception to finish with only 7.30 fantasy points, which was disappointing considering the favorable matchup. Ignoring that low score, he has still achieved at least 13 points in each of his last three games.
WR Marques Valdes-Scantling, New Orleans Saints
(Rostered in 25% of leagues)
Valdes-Scantling is a solid addition if you’re seeking additional depth at the receiver position. Though he had limited targets in the past three weeks, he capitalized on two big performances recently. He scored 24.40 fantasy points with three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons and followed that up with two catches for 87 yards and a touchdown against the Browns, yielding 15.70 fantasy points. While he has a bye in Week 12, he’s set for a favorable matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13.
DEF, Los Angeles Rams
(Rostered in 50% of leagues)
If you’re dissatisfied with your current defense, the Rams might be worth considering from the waiver wire. Over their last six games, they have consistently produced at least six fantasy points. The Rams’ defense has recorded three or more sacks in each of the last four games, along with interceptions and fumbles in the last two games.
TE Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins
(Rostered in 53% of leagues)
Smith delivered an outstanding performance for those who started him, scoring a season-best 25.10 fantasy points in Week 11. He caught six passes on eight targets for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 34-19 win against the Las Vegas Raiders.
QB Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
(Rostered in 48% of leagues)
Nix also had a fantastic performance, tallying 28.78 points in a commanding 38-6 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He completed 28 of 37 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns, achieving his first 300-yard game of the season. He should be considered a QB1 option next week with a favorable matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
