The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several recalls last week, including a major recall by General Motors involving over 460,000 vehicles due to a transmission problem that might cause the rear wheels to lock up.

If you’re curious about whether your vehicle has been recalled, you can check the list below. If your car isn’t mentioned, you may also look up your vehicle in YSL News’s automotive recall database or the NHTSA’s own database. Using the VIN (vehicle identification number) on the NHTSA website is a simple way to see any recalls for your vehicle.

Here’s a summary of the vehicle recalls that the NHTSA published from November 10 to November 16.

Rivian SUVs and trucks recalled due to inactive exterior lights

Rivian has announced a recall of 5,128 units of the 2025 R1T trucks and R1S SUVs. The NHTSA’s report indicates that a recent software update (version 2024.39.30) may cause certain exterior lights to fail when the Car Costume feature is active. This failure can reduce visibility, increasing the likelihood of an accident.

The company is offering a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to rectify this issue. Owners will receive notification letters by December 18. For questions, Rivian’s customer service can be reached at 1-888-748-4261, using recall number FSAM-1552.

Jaguar recalls Range Rover SUVs for potential suspension failure

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 16,759 units of its 2014-2016 Range Rover SUVs. According to the NHTSA’s report, the front suspension upper knuckle joint may be prone to cracking, which could lead to the detachment of the suspension arm.

The detachment of the suspension arm can significantly impair vehicle handling and could lead to a crash, as stated in the report.

To address this issue, dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and, if necessary, install a retaining bracket or replace the knuckle at no charge. Owners can expect notification letters by January 3, 2025, and may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 using recall number N759.

Honda recalls scooters due to potential transmission issues

Honda is recalling 23,483 units of its 2016-2025 Metropolitan scooters due to a risk that an insufficient seal between the transmission case and left-side crankcase might allow transmission fluid to leak, according to an NHTSA report.

Leaks in the transmission fluid could lead to potential failure of the driveshaft bearings, which may result in a sudden loss of power and raise the risk of accidents, the report noted.

Honda dealers will inspect and repair the transmission case at no cost. Notification letters are expected to be sent by December 20. Owners can reach Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870, with the recall number KR0.

Ford recalls certain models due to oil leak concerns

F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator face recall for potential oil leak

Ford has issued a recall for 2,418 of its 2024-2025 F-150 trucks, along with 2024 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs that come with a 3.5L GTDI engine. The recall addresses issues related to a misaligned engine cup plug that could cause a significant oil leak.

Such a rapid oil leak poses a risk of engine stalling, which could increase the chances of a crash.

The report indicates that there is a risk of a crash. Moreover, an oil leak near a potential ignition source, such as a heated engine or exhaust parts, could heighten the chance of a fire.

To resolve this problem, dealers will check the alignment of the engine cup plug and will replace the plug if needed. This service will be provided at no cost. Owners can expect recall notification letters by December 2. For assistance, they can reach out to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall number 24S70.

Ford Explorer, Ford Escape, and other SUVs and trucks for missing airbag warning label

Ford is recalling 27,678 units of its 2020-2025 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, 2020-2024 Escape, Lincoln Corsair, 2018-2024 F-150 trucks, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator SUVs because the airbag warning label might be absent from the dashboard, as noted in the NHTSA report.

The absence of a label indicating the correct usage of restraints may elevate the risk of injury during a collision. Additionally, the government agency pointed out that these Ford models “do not meet the requirements outlined in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, ‘Occupant Crash Protection.’”

Ford will send the warning labels to affected vehicle owners at no cost. Recipients should expect recall notification letters by December 16. For inquiries, owners can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and the recall reference number is 24C39.

Hyundai Santa Fe recall for sunshade malfunction

Hyundai is issuing a recall for 34,964 units of its 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs due to the fact that “the overhead console rear sunshade switch knob might not be completely recessed, which could lead to accidental closing of the sunshade,” as stated in the NHTSA report.

An unintentional sunshade closure poses an injury risk, according to the report. Both the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models “do not comply with the guidelines of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, ‘Power-Operated Window, Partition and Roof Panel Systems,’” NHTSA indicated.

Dealers will replace the malfunctioning switch knobs for free. Recall notification letters are expected to reach owners by January 6, 2025. For questions, Hyundai customers can call 1-855-371-9460, citing recall number 270.

Stellantis recalls Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs over rollaway risks

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 206,502 units of the 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs due to a “fault in the antilock brake system (ABS) module that may cause the brake lights to turn on incorrectly and disable both the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC),” according to the NHTSA report.

The issues include the potential for a vehicle to start and shift out of park without needing to press the brake pedal, leading to rollaway incidents, as highlighted by NHTSA. Additionally, the failure of ABS and ESC systems can negatively impact vehicle handling and control. Lastly, brake lights that do not illuminate can fail to communicate the driver’s intentions adequately in traffic, as noted in the report.

A solution for this issue is currently under development. Notification letters about the recall are expected to be sent out by December 5. Owners can reach FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403, with the recall number being 94B.
