Dog Lovers Rejoice: New Canine-Friendly Cruise Launching from Tampa in 2025
Get ready with your swimsuits, sunglasses, and dog toys: a fresh cruise that welcomes pets is coming next year!
This exciting journey, created by Cruise Tails in collaboration with Expedia Cruises of West Orlando, is set to leave from Tampa, Florida, in November 2025, aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander ship. It will feature a themed schedule designed for 250 dogs and their human companions since only service dogs usually travel on cruise liners.
“My Yorkie, Louis, is an essential member of my family, and for years, I have missed the chance to go on a ‘family reunion’ cruise because I refuse to travel without him,” said Captain Steve Matzke from Cruise Tails in a news announcement. “I aim to make this experience available for myself and all fellow dog enthusiasts.”
The itinerary will include various fun events such as dog shows, training sessions, costume competitions, and parades.
“Travelers can join in on numerous onboard activities with or without their furry friends, and a dedicated support crew will be on hand to guarantee a stress-free sailing experience for everyone,” the announcement stated. “During their getaway with their pets, guests have the option to book services such as dog grooming, enjoy puppy massages, and explore dog-friendly splash zones, and much more.”
Dogs will have access to a special relief area on their balcony, and there will be a dedicated Pet Butler for each family. Passengers must submit an application and receive approval to bring their pets, and the cruise mandates current vaccinations and health certificates for all boarding animals.
More details, including pricing, will be shared soon. Bookings for the cruise “could start as early as the first week of December,” according to the Cruise Tails website.
