Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado football team, is one of the most well-known coaches in college football.

Owing to his popularity and the successful season that the 18th-ranked Buffaloes are enjoying, Sanders’ name has come up for several head coaching positions in the NFL, particularly with the Dallas Cowboys, one of his former teams.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Sanders addressed the speculation once more. He firmly stated his commitment to Colorado and his enthusiasm for coaching the Buffaloes.

“I’m content where I am, man,” Sanders expressed. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what that means?  It means I’m stable. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m genuinely enthusiastic about my position here.”

He further noted: “We ain’t going nowhere. We’re just getting comfortable.”

While the Cowboys’ head coaching position has not yet become available (Mike McCarthy is still the coach), there has been speculation among NFL insiders about whether Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will consider making a change after the season. This speculation includes discussions about whether Sanders might consider the job if it were to open up.

Sanders’ remarks on Tuesday came shortly after Dianna Russini from The Athletic reported that any discussions regarding Sanders leaving Colorado for Dallas are merely “chitchat.”

Earlier in the day, Sanders’ former teammate on the Cowboys, Michael Irvin, shared his thoughts on Fox Sports’ “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” Irvin suggested that Sanders would be interested in the Cowboys role—if Dallas were to draft Shedeur Sanders.

In the latest NFL mock draft by Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz at YSL News, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is projected to be picked second overall by the New York Giants. The Cowboys currently hold the ninth overall pick in this year’s draft, with a record of 3-7.

“I believe it 100%, and I can tell you that reputable sources have confirmed this to me,” Irvin stated on Tuesday. “Great sources have told me that. That’s as much as I can say without breaching any protocols.”

In his two seasons with Colorado, Deion Sanders has guided the Buffaloes to an overall record of 12 wins and 10 losses. This season, with standout players like Shedeur Sanders and two-way superstar Travis Hunter, he has led Colorado to bowl eligibility for the first time in a non-COVID shortened season since 2016.
