Jay Leno Dismisses Seriousness of 60-Foot Fall: ‘It’s Nothing Major’

Jay Leno brushes off injuries after a 60-foot hill tumble: ‘Not a big deal’

The comedian and television presenter was seen with an eye patch and a cast after his fall in Pennsylvania.

Jay Leno refuses to be held back.

The comedian and former late-night show host disclosed that he experienced several injuries after tumbling down a 60-foot hill last weekend. Leno shared these details in recent discussions with “Inside Edition” and TMZ.

“I fell down. Boom, boom, boom,” Leno, aged 74, told TMZ. He continued, “I rolled down the hill, bumped my head on a rock, and hit my eye.”

Leno mentioned he fractured his wrist during the incident and was seen in a cast alongside wearing an eye patch. The left side of his face showed signs of bruising, with his affected eye swollen shut.

The incident occurred Saturday night while Leno was at a Hampton Inn located about 30 miles from Pittsburgh, as reported by Inside Edition. After performing earlier that day, Leno opted for a shortcut while heading to a local eatery for dinner.

“To reach the restaurant, I didn’t have a car, so it meant walking about a mile and a half. I thought, ‘Well, the hill doesn’t look too steep. Let’s see if I can go down it,'” Leno explained to TMZ.

YSL News has reached out to Jay Leno’s team for more information regarding his health.

Jay Leno performed shortly after the fall

Despite his significant fall, Leno proceeded with his scheduled performance in Pennsylvania just three hours later. He informed TMZ that he visited the hospital for evaluation of his injuries after he returned to Los Angeles.

In his typical fashion, the tenacious comic also entertained an audience at a comedy event in Beverly Hills, California, on Monday. When asked about the pain he was experiencing, he replied, “It’s not that big a deal.”

Leno humorously remarked, “The great thing about this age is you don’t learn from your mistakes. You just keep making the same foolish choices.”

This recent incident comes just two years after Leno suffered serious burns in a fire accident in November 2022 and followed by a motorcycle crash in January 2023.

Jay Leno shares positive news two years after fire and motorcycle accident

Leno discussed his recovery journey during a red-carpet interview with E! in September, reflecting on the series of injuries he faced at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.

In November 2022, Leno encountered a fire while working on one of his vintage vehicles in his garage in Burbank. After being rescued from under the car, he had “significant burns” to his face, hands, and chest, according to his surgeon Dr. Peter Grossman.

He underwent surgical trimming and grafting and required additional medical procedures following the accident.

In January 2023, Leno disclosed to the Las Vegas Review Journal that he broke multiple bones, including his collarbone, two ribs, and sustained cracks in both kneecaps during a motorcycle accident.

“Things are good. I can’t complain,” Leno stated to E!, adding some of his characteristic humor. “I just write jokes, tell jokes, and get checked. It’s a very straightforward process.”
