Kam Jones achieves third triple-double in Marquette history during convincing win over No. 6 Purdue


Kam Jones made his mark in Marquette men’s basketball history.

 

The senior guard achieved the third triple-double in the program’s history as the Golden Eagles demonstrated strong defensive skills, winning 76-58 against sixth-ranked Purdue on Tuesday at Fiserv Forum.

Marquette (5-0) holds the 14th position in the YSL News Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Jones recorded 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Previous to him, Dwyane Wade was the last player for Marquette to secure a triple-double, famously during the 2003 Elite Eight against Kentucky, with Tony Miller also achieving this in 1994.

The Golden Eagles’ tenacious defense effectively overwhelmed Purdue (4-1).

The Boilermakers gave up 15 turnovers, with the Golden Eagles making 11 steals during the game.

Stevie Mitchell contributed 21 points along with four steals for Marquette, while Chase Ross also added four steals.
