George Pickens of the Steelers Shares Bold Opinion on Browns After TNF Setback

Steelers’ George Pickens responds after TNF defeat: Browns aren’t ‘a good team at all’

The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Cleveland Browns with a score of 24-19 during Thursday night’s game at Huntington Bank Field, but one of the Steelers’ key players had strong opinions regarding the Browns’ performance.

Wide receiver George Pickens attributed the loss to the snowy weather, refusing to give the Browns any credit for their win.

“The weather had a major impact on the game today,” Pickens said to reporters after the match when asked what the Steelers could learn from the game. “I really don’t believe the Cleveland Browns are a good team at all. I think the weather really helped them today.”

The Steelers (8-3) outperformed the Browns with 368 yards to 304 and had a better turnover ratio at 3-1. However, the Browns struggled, converting only one of ten third-down tries, yet they succeeded in all four of their fourth-down attempts.

Despite this, the Browns (3-8) maintained a lead in the second half until a 23-yard touchdown pass from Calvin Austin III to Russell Wilson put the Steelers ahead 19-18 with 6:15 to go. However, a poorly executed 15-yard punt from Corliss Waitman gave the Browns a chance to regain the lead, and running back Nick Chubb scored a 2-yard touchdown with just 57 seconds left.

The Steelers managed to drive 29 yards on their final possession, but Wilson’s pass to the end zone was incomplete. Pickens, who caught four passes for 48 yards from seven attempts, seemed to have a disagreement with Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II following the play.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had a different viewpoint about the match results than Pickens.

“I thought the Browns really brought their A-game tonight. … They made more plays over the full 60 minutes than we did,” Tomlin stated during the postgame press conference.

The Steelers and Browns are set to clash again on December 8 in Pittsburgh.
