Kansas Holds Top Spot, Tennessee Climbs in YSL News Sports Men’s College Basketball Poll

This week’s YSL News Sports men’s basketball coaches poll sees no change at the top. However, this may change next week after the holiday tournaments wrap up. For now, the top five teams remain unchanged from last week.

Kansas stays in the No. 1 position, garnering 25 out of 31 first-place votes. Connecticut follows at No. 2 with two first-place votes, while Auburn holds onto the No. 3 position with three first-place votes. Gonzaga is at No. 4 and claimed the last first-place vote, and Iowa State rounds out the top five, remaining stable since the last poll.

The rankings start to shift at No. 6, where Tennessee climbs three spots due to a strong performance in the Bahamas, where they defeated Virginia and Baylor. Houston rises to No. 7, followed by Kentucky at No. 8, which moves up three slots. Alabama sits at No. 9, and Duke maintains its position at No. 10, just ahead of a rapid-rising Marquette, which defeated Purdue, causing the Boilermakers to drop six places to No. 12.

Xavier takes the top position among three new teams entering the poll at No. 22. Mississippi at No. 24 and Pittsburgh at No. 25 also join the rankings. Illinois, St. John’s, and Texas Tech fall out of the list.
