Sharon Stone has voiced her concerns about what she considers the “uneducated” mindset of some Americans.

During a panel at the Torino Film Festival in Italy, Stone made headlines with her remarks regarding the political climate in the United States, as captured in a YouTube video shared on Sunday.

Alluding to Donald Trump’s election, she stated, “We need to reflect on our choices for government and whether we are truly selecting our leaders or if they are selecting themselves.”

Earlier this month, Stone publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential race. She emphasized the lessons learned from Italy’s historical experiences with fascism, reminding attendees, “Italy has endured these crises before, and you recognize the implications.”

Stone elaborated, expressing that “my country is currently experiencing a phase of adolescence. During this time, there is a strong sense of arrogance, a belief that one knows it all, along with naivety and ignorance. We are caught in this state of ignorant arrogance.”

“A significant portion of Americans, approximately 80%, lack passports and are uneducated, living in an extraordinary state of naivety,” she remarked. “To address these challenges, we must support one another.”

In the election held on November 6, Trump successfully defeated Harris, marking a remarkable political resurgence for a figure long associated with controversy, as he triumphed in all competitive states and secured the national popular vote.

Stone is recognized for her outspoken views on various issues within Hollywood, including her support for her friend Kevin Spacey. Following the release of a documentary titled “Spacey Unmasked,” which delved into sexual assault allegations against the actor, Stone stood by him.

“I’m eager to see Kevin return to work. He is a brilliant talent, exceptionally elegant, fun, and extraordinarily generous. He possesses a wealth of knowledge about our craft that few reach,” Stone declared in an interview with The Telegraph, while also criticizing past aspiring actors for holding Spacey accountable for their own struggles.
