Britney Spears officially single after Sam Asghari divorce: Reports

The musicians were married for 14 months.

Britney Spears is now legally single almost a year and a half after her former husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce, as noted in recent reports.

According to court documents seen by People magazine and E! News, Spears received her legal single status on Monday, coinciding with her 43rd birthday (December 2).

This ruling regarding their split comes seven months after Spears and Asghari finalized their divorce in May. The couple opted for an uncontested divorce, choosing not to go to trial or seek an appeal, as mentioned in paperwork from Los Angeles Superior Court obtained by YSL News.

YSL News has contacted a spokesperson for Spears for a statement.

During the divorce proceedings, Spears’ legal representatives requested that her assets and finances with Asghari be split according to their prenuptial agreement, ensuring that she retained her income from before and throughout their marriage. They also sought court-mandated spousal support based on their written contract.

Asghari submitted a petition to terminate their 14-month marriage in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The pair, who connected while filming Spears’ 2016 music video “Slumber Party,” were married in June 2022.

In an Instagram video following the split, Spears expressed her feelings, stating, “Six years is a long time to be with someone, so I’m a bit taken aback, but I’m not here to explain why because it’s truly no one’s business!!!”

Spears and Asghari did not have any children during their time together. Spears mentioned that she and Asghari experienced a miscarriage early in her pregnancy in May 2022.

In a March interview with People magazine, Asghari referred to their time together as a “blessing,” adding that “people grow apart and move on.”

“I had nothing but wonderful memories and a great life, and that will always be a chapter of my life,” he stated.

Prior to Asghari, Spears was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007, with whom she shares two sons, Sean and Jayden, and briefly married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas for 55 hours.
