Injury Update on A.J. Brown: Eagles WR Out for “Monday Night Football” Against the Falcons

On Sunday morning, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that wide receiver A.J. Brown will not play in their “Monday Night Football” game against the Falcons.

The two-time first-team All-Pro was listed on the Eagles’ injury report after being a limited participant in Friday’s practice due to a hamstring issue.

Late-week injuries are typically concerning, and Brown’s status for the Week 2 game was confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

Here’s what you need to know about Brown’s injury situation as Monday approaches:

Update on A.J. Brown’s Injury

The Eagles have officially declared Brown out for the “Monday Night Football” game against the Falcons after he injured his hamstring during practice earlier in the week. The decision to rule him out was made on Sunday afternoon, before the 1 p.m. ET games.

With Brown unavailable for Week 2, the Eagles will rely on DeVonta Smith and newly signed Jahan Dotson to handle receiving duties against Atlanta.

On Saturday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni mentioned that Brown had experienced “tightness” in his hamstring during practice. Considering it’s still early in the season and the team has Super Bowl aspirations, they chose to prioritize caution for their star receiver.

The last time the Eagles played without Brown was in the NFC Wild Card game in January against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, resulting in a 32-9 defeat. DeVonta Smith was the standout receiver in that game, finishing with 8 catches for 148 yards.
