Live Updates: Yankees vs. Guardians ALCS Game 1 – Start Time, Lineups, and TV Channel

NEW YORK – The long-awaited clash between Cleveland, hoping for a World Series title, and the Yankees, aiming to break their own title drought, kicks off Monday night at Yankee Stadium in the opener of the American League Championship Series.

This is the second playoff matchup between the Guardians and Yankees in three years and their fourth in eight years, with the Yankees winning previous encounters in the 2017 AL Division Series, the 2020 Wild Card Series, and the 2022 ALDS.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, each time they fell short in the ALCS, facing the Houston Astros, which has prolonged their wait for both a pennant and a World Series victory since 2009.

Meanwhile, Cleveland has been waiting even longer.

The Guardians are seeking their first World Series appearance since 2016 and their first championship since 1948. They came agonizingly close in 2016 when the Chicago Cubs won the series in seven games after an extra-inning thriller.

In pregame news, Anthony Rizzo made headlines by returning from the injured list just two weeks after breaking two fingers due to a pitch. He didn’t participate in the ALDS victory against the Kansas City Royals, where Oswaldo Cabrera and Jon Berti filled in at first base.

Starting for the Yankees is left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon, who was removed in the fourth inning of ALDS Game 2, while Guardians right-hander Alex Cobb, who made a brief three-inning start in ALDS Game 3, takes the mound as well.
