Revolutionary Polymer Paves the Way for Advanced Data Storage Solutions

A new material for high density data storage can be erased and recycled in a more efficient and sustainable way, providing a potential alternative to hard disk drives, solid-state drives and flash memory in future. The low-cost polymer stores data as 'dents', making a miniscule code in patterns, with the indents just nanometers in size

Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Manslaughter Case Concludes as Prosecutors Drop Appeal

Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ manslaughter case officially concludes as prosecutors drop appeal

The legal challenges faced by Alec Baldwin regarding the tragic shooting on the set of “Rust” in 2021, which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, have now concluded in the realm of criminal proceedings.

On Monday, Kari Morrissey, the special prosecutor from the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office, announced in a press release that the appeal to reinstate the case against Baldwin has been formally withdrawn. This action came after Hutchins lost her life during the filming of “Rust” three years earlier.

“Our primary goal has consistently been to achieve justice for Halyna Hutchins. We feel regret that Mr. Baldwin will not bear legal responsibility for his part in her death. By withdrawing the appeal, we hope that the ongoing lawsuits provide some form of justice for Halyna Hutchins’ family,” stated Morrissey. Hutchins’ family is expected to speak to reporters alongside attorney Gloria Allred at a press conference set for 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Baldwin’s lawyers, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, issued a statement to YSL News on Monday regarding the withdrawal of the appeal by Morrissey.

“The decision to dismiss the appeal today is a definitive validation of Baldwin’s position—this was an unimaginable tragedy, yet Alec Baldwin has committed no crime,” said Nikas and Spiro. “The legal principles are upheld in New Mexico.”

On November 21, Morrissey had challenged New Mexico District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer’s dismissal of Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter charge related to the death of Hutchins.

In legal documents, Morrissey appealed Sommer’s ruling from July and an October decision that upheld the dismissal of charges against Baldwin, marking a setback for state prosecutors.

While filing the appeal, Morrissey did not provide a specific reason. Baldwin had settled a lawsuit with Hutchins’ family in 2022.

Halyna Hutchins’ mother criticized Baldwin during ‘Rust’ premiere

“I had always hoped to watch my daughter’s work come to life on screen in Poland. Sadly, that dream was shattered when Alec Baldwin fired his weapon and caused my daughter’s death,” Solovey remarked.

Solovey further stated, “Baldwin’s refusal to apologize and take responsibility for my daughter’s death only deepens my pain. He seems to seek unfair gain from this tragedy.” She emphasized that her protest against the “Rust” festival promotion stems from the lack of justice for her daughter.

On December 17, Baldwin expressed his commitment to revealing “the true story of what transpired” during the “Rust” shooting on David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast.

“My upcoming efforts will clearly succeed in uncovering the reality of the events,” he asserted, insisting that “the actual truth has yet to be disclosed.”

Alec Baldwin set to appear in TLC reality show with family, plus ‘SNL’

Since the dismissal of his case five months ago, Baldwin has largely re-focused on his entertainment career.

In June, TLC announced a reality series featuring Baldwin, his wife Hilaria, and their seven children, promising “endless love, laughter, and drama” as highlighted in a promotional release.

Additionally, Baldwin has made multiple appearances on “Saturday Night Live” recently, revisiting his impersonation of former President Donald Trump and portraying Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
