Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese Breaks WNBA Rebounds Record
Angel Reese has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a WNBA record in just 32 games. With eight games remaining in the regular season, she could significantly increase her record.
During a match on Sunday against the Minnesota Lynx, Reese secured her 405th rebound of the season, setting a new WNBA all-time record and surpassing the previous record of 404 held by Sylvia Fowles from 2018.
At only 22 years old, Reese has been dominating the boards for the Chicago Sky. She enters the game averaging close to 13 rebounds per game, and if she maintains this performance, she is set to exceed 500 rebounds this season.
Selected as the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese has proven to be an essential player for the team as they strive to make the playoffs. She is currently in a close race with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark for the WNBA Rookie of the Year title.
Just two days earlier, in a game against the Fever, Reese broke two rookie records herself: the most double-doubles (23) for a rookie and the highest number of rebounds (399) in a single season, both previously held by Tina Charles.
Before Sundays game, Reese had impressive stats of 13.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
At halftime of the game against the Lynx, the Sky (11-20) were trailing 39-32. Reese managed to score four points on 2-of-5 shooting and contributed eight rebounds.
