Anne Hathaway Dazzles with a ‘Somebody to Love’ Performance at Harris Event, Reminiscing ‘Ella Enchanted’ Magic

Anne Hathaway Sings ‘Somebody to Love’ at Event for Kamala Harris, Channeling ‘Ella Enchanted’

Anne Hathaway continues to captivate her audience.

The Academy Award-winning actress from “The Devil Wears Prada,” aged 41, delighted fans as she performed Queen’s classic “Somebody to Love” at a New York event supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, as shown in social media clips.

This song choice was a nod to Hathaway’s role in the 2004 film “Ella Enchanted,” where she sings the same track.

During the gathering, Hathaway voiced her support for Harris by saying, “Hi, I’m Annie, and I’m a mom,” highlighting that her son Jonathan was present with her, as per a social media video. “Also, just so you know, I will be voting for Kamala.”

“Isn’t it nice to have made a decision?” Hathaway added. “It’s crucial to recognize that America is vast, and many individuals are still uncertain, especially during an election like this one, where emotions run high and the stakes are significant. It’s essential to meet people where they are, especially during canvassing and phone banking.”

She went on to suggest that Harris’ supporters should consider the questions that undecided voters might have, seamlessly transitioning into her performance’s opening lyric: “Can anybody find me somebody to love?”

Toward the conclusion of her performance, Hathaway reiterated an important message about the presidential election.

“America faces a significant decision,” she stated. “It’s necessary to make a choice. You must vote.”

Hathaway’s nostalgic performance came on the heels of her announcement about an upcoming sequel to “The Princess Diaries.”

The event, titled “Broadway Rallies for Kamala,” gathered numerous Hollywood stars to encourage volunteer efforts in support of Harris’ presidential run. Notable attendees included Audra McDonald, Billy Porter, and Whoopi Goldberg.

During her speech, Goldberg urged participants to “make phone calls, visit homes, and inform people about what is best for them—not what they must do, but what they should do for their families, their children, their friends, and even for those they do not know,” based on a YouTube video from the event.

As the Nov. 5 presidential election approaches, several celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Bruce Springsteen, have publicly expressed their support for Harris.

Many stars have participated in fundraising efforts for the Democratic candidate. In July, actors like Jeff Bridges, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Mark Hamill joined a Zoom event called “White Dudes for Harris,” which raised $4 million.

Recently, “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston also expressed his support for Harris at a rally in Arizona.
