Who is Stephanie Grisham? Key details about the ex-Trump staffer’s address at the DNC
Stephanie Grisham was the first top official in the Trump Administration to step down after the events on January 6, 2021.
In an unexpected move, a past member of the Trump administration took the stage on Tuesday at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Stephanie Grisham, who held the position of White House Press Secretary from July 2019 until April 2020 during Donald Trump’s presidency, made an appearance at the convention this week. After her time in the White House, she is now changing her party affiliation and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate set to compete against Trump in the upcoming November election.
Grisham criticized Trump during her speech, stating, “He has no empathy, morals, or loyalty to the truth,” as reported by YSL News.
Here’s a brief overview of Grisham.
Who is Stephanie Grisham?
Stephanie Grisham was appointed as Trump’s White House Press Secretary from July 2019 to April 2020, followed by her role as the chief of staff to former First Lady Melania Trump from April 2020 until January 2021.
Beginning her political career, she joined the Trump campaign in 2015, previously serving under Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne and in the Republican caucus for the Arizona House of Representatives, according to YSL News.
Additionally, she contributed to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012.
Grisham admitted that she was a devoted supporter of Trump until the events of January 6, 2021, when she was the first senior member of his administration to resign following the Capitol riot.
What was Stephanie Grisham’s role at the DNC?
Grisham gave her speech at the DNC on Tuesday evening, coinciding with appearances by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
During her address, Grisham recounted her experiences while working for Trump, as reported by YSL News.
“He used to tell me, ‘It doesn’t matter what you say, Stephanie, just say it often enough and people will believe it.’ But what you say does matter, and so does what you choose not to say. On January 6, I asked Melania if we could at least issue a tweet stating that, while peaceful protest is a right for every American, there’s no place for lawlessness or violence. She replied simply with, ‘No.’
