Just weeks after the NFL warned about “organized and skilled” burglars targeting the homes of athletes, another incident has occurred involving a prominent quarterback.

Authorities were dispatched to Joe Burrow’s residence, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, following a reported burglary that coincided with the team’s “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the break-in at Burrow’s house in Anderson Township, Ohio, occurring shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday night during the Bengals’ 27-20 victory over Dallas. Further details about the incident were not disclosed.

WLWT obtained 911 call recordings where a caller indicated that someone entered Burrow’s home and it was “completely messed up.” Police communications from that evening revealed that an officer reported a broken bedroom window and signs that the room had been ransacked.

On November 21, the NFL alerted all 32 teams about organized criminal groups targeting the homes of professional athletes.

The NFL memo stated that “law enforcement officials have observed these groups exploiting team schedules to target athletes’ residences during games.”

In early October, Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce also experienced burglaries at their homes during a “Monday Night Football” game.

Police in Belton, Missouri, were notified about an incident at Mahomes’ residence initiated by his security team. According to reports from The Kansas City Star, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office labeled it as “Burglary/Breaking & Entering.”

Reports indicate that $20,000 worth of valuables were stolen from Kelce’s house, with damage inflicted to the back door.

The memo from the league noted that “burglary groups seem to gather information on potential targets through public records, media, and social media platforms.”

The NFL advises that players and their teams should refrain from sharing updates on social media until after team activities are concluded.
