Paul Teal, an actor famed for his role in “One Tree Hill”, has died at the young age of 35.

His death occurred on Friday after a struggle with cancer, as confirmed by his agent Susan Tolar Walters in a statement emailed to YSL News on Monday.

“His remarkable talent and warm spirit left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him,” the statement noted. “His absence will be profoundly felt.”

The news of Teal’s passing was shared by his fiancée, Emilia Torello, on Instagram, describing him as “the most thoughtful, inspiring, driven, self-disciplined, loving man.”

“Paul, you were my soulmate, my soon-to-be husband, my support, and my future,” she wrote with a touching black-and-white photo of the couple. “You filled my life with laughter, excitement, and love. Your time was cut short while you fought bravely.”

She added: “The world was fortunate to have even a brief moment with Paul Teal, and I was the luckiest, as I had the privilege to call you mine. My love for you will never fade.”

Teal made his first appearance in “One Tree Hill” during the show’s seventh season in 2010, taking on the role of Josh Avery, a closeted actor involved in a film directed by characters Julian Baker (Austin Nichols) and Alex Dupré (Jana Kramer). His character later became embroiled in a scandal when he created a sex tape with Alex, leading to an extortion plot involving Julian’s father.

Bethany Joy Lenz, known for her role as Haley James Scott on “One Tree Hill,” expressed her sorrow over Teal’s death in a poignant Instagram post on Sunday.

“My heart is heavy. Paul Teal was the kind of person who effortlessly lit up a room,” Lenz wrote alongside a video tribute to Teal. “His radiant smile, contagious laughter, and generous heart drew others to him.”

Lenz recalled first working with Teal during a musical adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks love story “The Notebook.” When she directed an episode of “One Tree Hill,” she chose him for the role of Josh, praising his unassuming talent.

“With his humble spirit and willingness to dive completely into every role, Paul was ideal for that role,” Lenz shared. “He was a delight to collaborate with in any scenario and so generous in spirit.”

Teal’s fellow cast member Jana Kramer also honored him on social media, noting that Teal was “always so gentle and fun to work with.”

Later in her message, Lenz reflected on not keeping in touch with Teal after their professional relationship, commenting, “Life is fleeting. This thought has been on my mind this week.”

“Paul, your time among us felt like a delightful summer romance for all of us who had the pleasure of knowing you, even if just for a season. Joyful, exhilarating, deeply impactful, and unforgettable,” Lenz concluded. “Thank you for sharing your light with us.”
