Beyoncé delays January 14 announcement due to wildfire crisis in L.A.
Beyoncé has decided to postpone her eagerly awaited announcement originally scheduled for January 14, because of the devastating wildfires affecting Los Angeles.
Shortly after midnight on January 14, Beyoncé took to her Instagram to inform fans that her planned announcement would be rescheduled.
“The announcement set for January 14th is being delayed due to the devastation from the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. I am praying for healing and restoration for all families facing trauma and loss,” she stated. “We are truly grateful for the courageous first responders who are diligently working to protect the Los Angeles community.”
In her post, she mentioned that her BeyGood Foundation has donated $2.5 million to assist families who have lost their homes and to help local organizations through its L.A. Fire Relief Fund. She concluded with a message encouraging support: “Please join us in contributing however you can.”
Beyoncé initially hinted at her announcement last month with a mysterious Instagram post that highlighted the date January 14, following her Christmas Day performance, referred to as the Beyoncé Bowl.
As fans are aware, the superstar delivered an impressive halftime show during the Ravens vs. Texans game at NRG Stadium in Houston on December 25. This performance marked the first time she sang tracks live from her eighth studio album, “Cowboy Carter.” Shortly after, she shared the date along with the caption “Look at that horse” before going silent.
The wildfires commenced on January 7 due to a series of strong winds and have since spread across Los Angeles, causing significant destruction and resulting in at least 24 fatalities, with thousands of buildings damaged, according to officials on Sunday. Beyoncé is among the many celebrities who have expressed support as the fires unfolded.
Beyoncé’s family has also been impacted, with her mother, Tina Knowles, revealing that her Malibu bungalow was destroyed over the weekend.
In an Instagram post, she shared, “This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu! It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred Happy Place. Now it is gone!! God bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in perilous conditions.”
As of now, the singer has yet to announce a new date for her announcement.
