Bill Burr Criticizes Howie Mandel for Surprise Guest Billy Corgan
Bill Burr is not pleased with Howie Mandel’s actions.
In a recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” comedian Bill Burr, 56, expressed his discontent with Mandel for unexpectedly introducing him to Billy Corgan during a podcast session. Mandel presented the moment as a family reunion, since Corgan had previously suggested that Burr could be his half-brother.
While Burr initially showed frustration during the original podcast, listeners were left questioning if he was genuinely upset or simply joking. However, on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Burr made it clear that he was not a fan of Mandel’s surprise.
YSL News has contacted Mandel’s representatives for a statement.
“Howie pulled that stunt because he’s a Hollywood sellout, and he doesn’t care about the outcomes,” Burr stated. “He could have warned me, but instead he just dives into all that awkwardness. I did not like what Howie did. Not one bit.”
Nonetheless, Burr humorously remarked that it’s hard to dislike Mandel, quipping, “How can you hate a germaphobe? He doesn’t pose a threat.” He also mentioned that he holds no grudges against Corgan, calling the Smashing Pumpkins guitarist “fine.”
Back in November, Corgan appeared on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast and recounted how his stepmother told him ten years ago that Burr “might be one of the kids your father had while traveling as a musician.” Corgan hinted at this being a possibility since his dad once mentioned he had a half-brother named Bill, born around the same time as him.
However, Corgan later clarified that he did not genuinely believe they were related after contemplating it.
During Burr’s recent guest spot on “Howie Mandel Does Stuff,” the surprise guest Corgan joined them, much to Burr’s dismay, marking the first time they had met.
“I thought this would be entertaining, to unite the family,” Mandel stated, and the podcast episode was labeled “Family Reunion.”
As soon as Corgan walked in, Burr looked displeased and asked, “Is there any way to cut this out?” He questioned Corgan’s motives for bringing up the potential half-brother connection and remarked, “Did you ever consider that my not sharing that story might mean you shouldn’t either?”
Throughout the rest of the discussion, Burr treated it as if they genuinely had the same father, though it was unclear if he was just playing along for comedic effect. “At some point, it became amusing to me that he has numerous families,” Burr remarked, noting that “my dad told us he was a dentist” and “didn’t pursue music.”
Burr continued to criticize Mandel during the episode, accusing him of being driven by “ratings” and calling the surprise “rude.” Nonetheless, he added, “I still appreciate you, even after this.” When Mandel pressed further while playing emotional piano music, Burr joked, “Come on, haven’t you pushed it far enough?” Eventually, Mandel left the room, allowing Burr and Corgan to converse while the piano music lingered in the background.
Corgan seemed unaware of the setup, expressing surprise that Burr was not informed of his appearance and commenting that Mandel “totally set him up.”
