Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Set to Face Trial Over ‘It Ends with Us’ Legal Battle
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are going to court.
The former stars of “This is Us,” who found themselves involved in a scandal that escalated into legal issues late last year, will have their disagreements heard in court following an order from a judge in New York on Monday.
In the ruling, which YSL News reviewed on Tuesday, Judge Lewis J. Liman scheduled the trial for March 9, 2026, and instructed both parties to prepare case management plans.
This case is just one of multiple legal battles involving Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, along with Lively. This particular New York lawsuit emerged after Baldoni took legal action against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others. The lawsuit follows Lively’s public accusations that Baldoni harassed her and played a role in a smear campaign against her.
Baldoni and Wayfarer’s initial complaint, filed on January 16, claimed that Lively was responsible for the tension on set, alleging that she leveraged her fame to alter public perception after she faced backlash during the promotional events for the film.
“If Lively had opted to simply withstand the media backlash she faced in August 2024, the public would probably have moved on and remained unaware of the truth about her,” the documents stated. “They would not have discovered that she intentionally and systematically deprived” Baldoni and Wayfarer of their film.”
The lawsuit further alleges that Lively made false claims of sexual harassment, colluded with The New York Times to publish a damaging article about Baldoni, and used her fame to take control of the filmmaking process. The legal complaints include accusations of extortion, invasion of privacy, and defamation. Baldoni is also pursuing a separate $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times.
Initially filed in New York, Baldoni’s lawsuit came after Lively submitted a claim in California with the state’s Civil Rights Department, which was followed by her federal lawsuit. Lively accused Baldoni of sexually harassing her on set, adding unwanted intimate scenes to the script, sharing unsolicited personal details about his sex life and inquiring about hers, and entering her dressing room uninvited while she was breastfeeding.
In her claims, Lively implicates not only Baldoni but also a crisis public relations firm he engaged after the completion of the movie. She argues that the hostility she experienced online was not spontaneous but rather a well-coordinated effort to promote negative feelings about her and protect Baldoni from harassment allegations.
The unfolding situation marks a significant unraveling of a long-suspected conflict between the two stars.
If the case proceeds to trial, it is sure to attract considerable public interest, as many are already deeply invested in this contentious dispute.
