This is a memorable birth story.
Country rock artist Brantley Gilbert recounted the details of “the wildest night of my life” in an Instagram video posted on Saturday. He shared that his wife, Amber Cochran Gilbert, went into labor while he was performing at the Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Mississippi, during his “Off the Rails Tour.”
The video begins with Gilbert entertaining the crowd onstage, before cutting quickly to him being called backstage for an emergency. The footage then shows him on the phone with his mother, excitedly sharing the news: “You have a new grandbaby.”
The couple welcomed their new son, Abram Howell Gilbert, who was born on October 11.
As Gilbert’s mother rejoices on the call, the video shifts to black-and-white images of their newborn son. Gilbert’s mother asks about Amber’s condition, and he replies, “She’s a freaking savage.” His mother responds, “I know she is. She’s incredible. She’s absolutely amazing.”
However, the show must go on. The video shows Gilbert hanging up the phone with his mom because he needed to “go finish the show.” Back on stage, he informed the audience: “We got a baby.”
The audience erupted in cheers, with Gilbert’s bandmates embracing him in celebration of the big news.
In his post sharing the video of his child’s birth, Gilbert expressed: “Witnessing such an incredible woman do something so extraordinary is a moment I will always cherish. A huge thanks to our road family for their support, Brittany Thornton for assisting in bringing this little guy into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi, for all the love, and most importantly to Amber Gilbert for allowing me to love you and showing me just how strong a woman can truly be. I love you.”
Brantley and Amber Gilbert have been married since 2015 and are also parents to six-year-old Barrett and five-year-old Braylen.
“We will forever remember how you arrived,” the couple shared in another joint Instagram update, “and we are excited to see what your journey will be.”
