Patrick Surtain II and Broncos finalize four-year, $96 million contract extension

The Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with cornerback Patrick Surtain on a four-year contract extension valued at $96 million. This deal positions him as the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history, according to a source familiar with the situation who requested to remain unnamed due to the confidential nature of the negotiation.

This contract guarantees Surtain $77.5 million over the course of the deal, which will keep him under contract until the end of the 2029 season.

Prior to this extension, Surtain had two years left on his original contract, which was worth $23.3 million.

Since being selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Surtain has proven himself to be one of the leading cornerbacks in the league.

He has been named to the Pro Bowl twice and received first-team All-Pro honors in 2022. Last season, he amassed 69 tackles, defended 12 passes, and made one interception.
