Bronny James dazzles with a poster dunk, hitting a career-high 31 points upon returning to G League
In an impressive display, Bronny James achieved a personal best of 31 points in the G League, which included an eye-catching poster dunk, contributing to the South Bay Lakers’ 122-110 win over the Rip City Remix on Friday.
The son of NBA superstar LeBron James, Bronny successfully converted 10 of his 22 attempts from the field, with 5 out of 11 being three-pointers. He also recorded three assists, two rebounds, and two steals during the game.
Of his 31 points, 25 were scored in the second half, with 13 coming in the crucial fourth quarter. A standout moment was his powerful one-handed dunk, which resulted in an and-1 situation in the third quarter, allowing South Bay to take an 81-80 lead. This play was instrumental in a 16-4 scoring run, pushing South Bay to a 94-84 advantage.
Previously, Bronny’s highest scoring game in the G League was 30 points, achieved on December 12.
“I’m just focused on regaining my confidence,” Bronny shared with Spectrum Sports, adding, “I aim to play my style, absorb lessons from each game, and learn from both the Lakers and my veteran teammates while remaining true to myself. … I’m pleased with how things are going. Anytime I get to play basketball, breathe, and walk, I’m enjoying myself and feel thankful.”
In July 2023, Bronny faced a serious health scare when he experienced a sudden cardiac arrest while training at USC.
After a season with the USC Trojans, he was selected in the 2024 NBA draft as a second-round pick (55th overall) and subsequently signed a four-year, $7.8 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bronny has seen limited action in the NBA, playing 12 games for a total of 29 minutes. However, in the G League, he boasts averages of 16.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. Earlier this season, LeBron and Bronny made history by being the first father-son duo to play in the NBA simultaneously, and they achieved this milestone on the same team during the same game.
