Browns Triumph Over Steelers in Thrilling Snowy Showdown on Thursday Night Football

Browns Shock Steelers in Thrilling Snowy Game

The rivalry between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns is always intense, and Thursday night was no exception, with snow falling in Cleveland.

In frigid conditions, the Browns pulled off a shocking 24-19 victory, ending the Steelers’ five-game winning streak.

Myles Garrett and the Browns dominated the game against their AFC North foe. Garrett’s outstanding performance helped the Browns defense effectively limit Russell Wilson and the Steelers’ offense.

Thursday’s game at Huntington Bank Field exemplified what an AFC North clash is all about, marked by tough play and strong defensive efforts.

YSL News Sports picks out the winners and losers from the Week 12 clash in the AFC North:

Winners

Myles Garrett

Garrett showcased his dominance in the first half, posting three sacks, one forced fumble, and four pressures.

He started the game strong by sacking Pittsburgh’s quarterback during their first drive, which resulted in a missed field goal attempt by Steelers kicker Chris Boswell. Garrett continued to shine with a strip sack in the second quarter and capped off the first half with another sack.

In the second half, Garrett encountered several double teams as the Steelers made adjustments to their strategy.

He briefly left the game to be evaluated but returned to play in the fourth quarter.

In the end, Garrett recorded five tackles and three sacks in the victory.

Jameis Winston

Winston was completely focused, as evidenced by his pregame interview.

Although he made some inaccurate throws, he executed two of the game’s most critical plays.

In the fourth quarter during a crucial fourth down, Winston risked it all. He scrambled, gained two yards, and leaped into the end zone for a touchdown, with even the battery to his communication device falling out of his helmet during the play, according to the Amazon broadcast. This touchdown and a successful two-point conversion allowed the Browns to take an 18-6 lead with just over 12 minutes left.

Later in the fourth quarter, Winston connected with Jerry Jeudy on a crucial 15-yard pass that set up the decisive scoring play.

Winston completed 18 of 27 passes for 219 yards, with one interception and one fumble. His performance was inconsistent, but he showed great competitiveness.

Nick Chubb

This game marked Chubb’s first matchup against the Steelers since his serious knee injury during their Week 2 contest in 2023.

Chubb displayed grit, powering through a solid Pittsburgh run defense. He poetically clinched the game with a touchdown under a minute left in the game.

Chubb carried the ball 20 times for 59 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns.

Jerry Jeudy

Jeudy has emerged as Cleveland’s leading wide receiver, coming up big when it mattered. His key 15-yard catch on third down paved the way for Chubb’s game-winning 2-yard touchdown.

He finished the game with six receptions for a total of 85 yards, constantly finding openings in the snowy conditions.

Grounds Crew

The Browns’ grounds crew deserves commendation for maintaining the field and ensuring that the snowy surface was playable.

Losers

Punters

Browns punter Corey Bojorquez had a rough start, with his first punt traveling only 12 yards.

Steelers punter Corliss Waitman also had issues, with a late 15-yard shank that gave Cleveland a chance to capitalize.

Overall, Bojorquez averaged 30.7 yards on his three punts, while Waitman’s critical mistake stood out in his single punt attempt.

Browns’ Third-Down Efficiency

The Browns struggled significantly, converting just 1 out of 10 on third downs.

Winston’s interception in the dying moments of the game on third down proved to be a pivotal error.

Russell Wilson

Wilson faced his first defeat as the starting QB for the Steelers, while still posting a solid passer rating of 116.7 for the fourth consecutive game. He now holds a record of 4-1 as Pittsburgh’s starter and has performed well enough to maintain his position.
