Bryce Underwood switches commitment from LSU to Michigan: Stats, recruiting rankings, and more
Just two weeks before the early national signing day for college football, significant changes are taking place.
The top prospect in the 2025 recruiting class made a surprising move by changing his commitment from LSU to Michigan on Thursday night. This announcement followed the earlier commitment of four-star recruit JuJu Lewis to Deion Sanders and Colorado.
Underwood, who plays for Belville High School in Belville, Michigan, is the highest-ranked commitment for the Wolverines since Rashan Gary joined as a defensive tackle in the 2016 recruiting cycle. Previously, he had been pledged to Brian Kelly and the Tigers since January 6, but made this notable flip announcement just under two weeks before signing day.
He is rated as a five-star recruit in 247 Sports’ Composite rankings and holds the No. 1 position overall in the ON3 and ESPN evaluations. Rivals lists him as No. 2 overall, just behind Ohio State quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair. Underwood is the first five-star quarterback recruit for Michigan under head coach Sherrone Moore and the first since J.J. McCarthy in the 2021 class.
Underwood took to social media to announce his commitment to the Wolverines with the tagline “Hometown. Hero.”
