Caitlin Clark mishits tee shot, almost strikes fans at LPGA’s The Annika pro-am

Caitlin Clark is renowned as one of the finest basketball shooters globally, but her golf skills may need some work.

The WNBA star participated in the pro-am segment of the LPGA’s The Annika event on Wednesday, where she encountered a close call while teeing off at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.

Clark hit a shocking shank, sending the ball straight into the audience. Thankfully, it seems no one was hurt, and the Indiana Fever guard humorously apologized, prompting laughter from the onlookers.

A crowd member’s camera angle showed how frightening it was, as the shot barely cleared the heads of the spectators.

While it’s amusing to reflect on, nobody was injured, even though Clark’s primary goal before the tournament was to avoid hitting anyone. She just managed to fulfill that aim – sort of.

Despite the chaotic shot, this 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year did manage to make some notable shots during the day. She executed solid tee shots, displayed good control with her approach shots, and showed skill with her putting.

Clark was paired with world No. 1 golfer Nelly Korda on the front nine and teamed up with World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam for the back nine. Clark expressed that she enjoyed her time on the course.

“It was definitely a fun morning,” she noted. “I feel lucky and grateful. I held my own; did pretty well. Overall, it was a good day.”
