How to watch ‘Frosty the Snowman’ on TV: Primetime special, streaming and more

The Christmas season is nearing, just three weeks away, bringing with it a delightful array of timeless holiday films and television specials. One beloved classic, “Frosty the Snowman,” will be broadcast by NBC this year, transitioning from its long-time home at CBS for the first time in 55 years.

Inspired by the song made famous by Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys in 1950, “Frosty the Snowman” narrates the enchanting tale of a snowman who comes to life with the help of a magical hat. He befriends local children and sets off on an adventure to reach the North Pole before the temperatures rise and he melts away.

During their journey, Frosty and a girl named Karen find themselves chased by a greedy magician who wants to take the magical hat from Frosty’s head.

This holiday favorite has been covered by numerous artists, but Jimmy Durante’s rendition of the song, released in 1950, particularly gained popularity, especially after he served as the narrator for the 1969 animated film. Since its debut, the movie has become a staple of the festive season.
