A hunter’s supermoon is approaching, and Krispy Kreme is marking this celestial event with a new treat: the Supermoon Super Doughnut.
This delightful doughnut features an unglazed exterior, filled with cookies and Kreme, coated in yellow icing, and topped with a swirl of chocolate cookie bits.
“October’s Supermoon is going to be the largest of the year. So, step outside on Thursday night and sweeten the occasion with our Supermoon Super Doughnuts,” stated Krispy Kreme’s Global Chief Brand Officer, Dave Skena.
How can you get Krispy Kreme’s Supermoon Super Doughnuts?
This special doughnut will be available at select locations across the United States for one day only: Thursday, October 17.
You can buy them individually or opt for a Supermoon Super Doughnuts specialty dozen, which includes six of the Supermoon doughnuts and six Original Glazed Doughnuts.
The doughnuts will be available for pick-up or delivery via Krispy Kreme’s app and website, while supplies last.
Krispy Kreme’s new release is part of a series of recent cosmos-themed treats, with past offerings like the Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut, the Artemis Moon Doughnut from 2022, and the Strawberry Supermoon and Mars doughnuts in 2021.
What makes the hunter’s moon a supermoon?
The hunter’s moon is recognized as the first full moon of autumn, while a supermoon refers to when the moon’s orbit brings it closer to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter than usual.
The hunter’s supermoon is anticipated to rise in the eastern sky at sunset on Thursday. Although it achieves peak brightness at 7:26 a.m. ET, it will not be visible then as it’s below the horizon, so you’ll want to wait until sunset to enjoy its rise, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
