US Men’s National Soccer Team vs. Mexico: Viewing Details for Tuesday’s Friendly
The era of Mauricio Pochettino commenced on a positive note as the U.S. men’s national soccer team secured a 2-0 win against Panama in Austin, Texas on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Pochettino’s USMNT will face a tougher challenge in their first friendly match in Mexico since 2012. Although the USMNT has maintained an unbeaten record against Mexico at home since 2019, their historical success in Mexico is limited to just one win, achieved during that 2012 friendly.
Pochettino, with extensive coaching experience, steps in for former coach Gregg Berhalter, who was let go following the team’s disappointing exit from Copa America 2024. He was appointed as the new head coach on September 10 and has a little less than two years to prepare the team for the 2026 World Cup after the Copa America setback.
The journey towards the 2026 World Cup began on a bright note as Yunus Musah and Ricardo Pepi scored in Saturday’s victory. For Musah, this match marked his inaugural goal at the international level. This win snapped a four-match winless streak for the USMNT, also breaking a two-game losing streak against Panama.

Christian Pulisic Among USMNT Players Missing the Match
Notable USMNT player Christian Pulisic, along with Weston McKennie, Marlon Fossey, Ricardo Pepi, and Zack Steffen, will not participate in the match against Mexico.
Pulisic has returned to his club, AC Milan, for “load management,” as noted by U.S. Soccer. Coach Pochettino had previously raised concerns regarding Pulisic’s heavy match schedule.
Additionally, McKennie—who missed the game against Panama—along with Fossey, Pepi, and Steffen, are dealing with “minor injuries” and will head back to their clubs as well.
No replacements have been added to the roster for the match against Mexico due to these absences.
