What time does the VP debate start tonight? How to catch Vance and Walz in the 2024 election showdown

Here’s how to tune into the ‘CBS News Vice Presidential Debate’

The vice presidential candidates will gather on the debate stage this Tuesday evening in New York City.

Democratic Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota and Republican Senator JD Vance of Ohio will share the stage less than a month after presidential candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced off in Philadelphia.

This debate occurs during the final stretch of a closely contested presidential race that will conclude in just over a month.

Both VP candidates agreed to the October 1 debate after CBS News offered four potential dates: September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8.

“Looking forward to October 1, JD,” Walz tweeted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, on August 14.

Vance confirmed the October 1 debate the next day but also suggested a debate on September 18 on CNN. However, Michael Tyler, the communications director for Harris’ campaign, later informed CBS News that Walz would participate only in the October 1 debate.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming October 1 debate between Walz and Vance, including viewing options and moderator information.
