The Impact of DNA Packaging on Cellular Replication Speed

Researchers have found that the way DNA is packaged in cells can directly impact how fast DNA itself is copied during cell division. They discovered that DNA packaging sends signals through an unusual pathway, affecting the cell's ability to divide and grow. This opens up new doors to study how the copying of the DNA

Cedar Point Unveils Ambitious Plans for Its Record-Breaking Roller Coaster, Siren’s Curse, Set to Debut in 2025!

Cedar Point reveals plans for a new record-breaking roller coaster, Siren’s Curse, set to debut in 2025

This article has been updated with the latest details.

Next year, Cedar Point will introduce a new record-setting roller coaster to its impressive collection.

Additionally, thrill-seekers may be able to enjoy two new coasters in 2025, as the park’s Top Thrill 2 coaster operated for only about a week this season before closing for further adjustments.

The upcoming ride, Siren’s Curse, promises a distinctive experience and is described as the tallest, fastest, and longest “tilt” roller coaster in the country.

This coaster will draw inspiration from the enchanting sirens that dwell in Lake Erie, known for mesmerizing sailors with their captivating songs.

What to expect from Siren’s Curse at Cedar Point

The park states that riders will hear haunting melodies while climbing a lift hill designed to resemble an old shipping crane tower standing at 160 feet tall above Lake Erie.

At the peak, guests will face a broken track that leads to nowhere.

Suddenly, the platform will tilt 90 degrees downward, connecting with a twisted track below.

The coaster will then drop down a thrilling 2,966-foot twisting track, reaching a maximum speed of 58 mph.

Riders will experience 13 moments of weightlessness, along with two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a high-speed “triple-down” feature with twisted, overbanked track.

The coaster trains, able to accommodate 24 riders, will feature built-in sound systems and LED lighting.

This new ride, designed with a sleek vertical profile, will be located near Iron Dragon and close to Cedar Point Marina.

To enjoy the ride, guests must be at least 48 inches tall.

When will Siren’s Curse open at Cedar Point?

Cedar Point will begin construction on the new coaster shortly.

In contrast to previous announcements, the park is not committing to having the coaster ready by the season opening next spring.

The park has announced that the coaster’s debut is scheduled for early summer 2025.

This addition will mark the 19th coaster in Cedar Point’s lineup, alongside Top Thrill 2.

“Cedar Point has always been about providing record-breaking thrills, and Siren’s Curse certainly delivers on that promise,” said Carrie Boldman, Cedar Point’s Vice President and General Manager in a statement. “The entire ride offers relentless excitement, but that moment when riders are suspended at a precarious tilt, staring straight down, waiting for the track to connect is sure to be a highlight for our fans. It’s a unique experience for Cedar Point, and we’re excited to bring it to our guests.”

The building of this new coaster will occur alongside efforts to resume operation of Cedar Point’s Top Thrill 2 roller coaster.

The park has not revealed the specifics behind the prolonged closure of the redesigned Top Thrill coaster, but workers have been seen dismantling the coaster’s trains and inspecting its track for some time.

Cedar Point aims to have Top Thrill 2 reopen in 2025.

The announcement of Siren’s Curse follows the recent advancements in the park’s operations.

The park said goodbye to its popular water attraction, the Snake River Falls, during the Labor Day weekend.

What Exactly is a ‘Tilt’ Roller Coaster?

The ’tilt’ roller coaster is a modern innovation in amusement parks throughout the United States.

According to Derek Perry, the communication director for American Coaster Enthusiasts, the new Cedar Point attraction, designed and constructed by the Dutch company Vekoma, offers a distinctive experience. Once riders reach the peak of the ride, the track tilts, shifting from a flat position to a vertical one like a seesaw, aligning with a hidden track below.

As the tracks connect, the coaster train drops suddenly at a 90-degree angle.

“I’m thrilled that Cedar Point is creating this ride,” he expressed. “It was a fantastic surprise.”

Vekoma is also working on another tilt coaster for the Circuit of the Americas amusement park within a Texas racetrack.

A similar feature is found in the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts roller coaster at Universal Orlando Resort.

There are already tilt coasters operating in theme parks outside the U.S., including locations in Germany and China.
