If you’re a pasta enthusiast – and who isn’t? – there’s a dedicated day for you: National Pasta Day on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Pasta comes in many varieties, from angel hair to ziti, and numerous pasta dishes rank among the top favorites in the U.S., as highlighted by YouGov’s survey of The Most Popular American Dishes.

Lasagna takes the second spot, just behind chocolate chip cookies (a tough contender!), with a popularity rating of 82%. Spaghetti and meatballs are fifth (80%), closely followed by burritos. Ravioli and macaroni and cheese secure the seventh (78%) and eighth (78%) positions, respectively, while pasta with tomato sauce ranks eleventh (75%).

While there’s no official reason for choosing October 17 as National Pasta Day, it provides a great excuse to indulge. Many restaurant chains across the U.S., like Olive Garden, Carrabba’s, Noodles & Company, and Fazoli’s, are providing special offers.
