America’s Housing Crisis: The Impact of Mass Deportations on an Already Strained Market

The U.S. is short millions of housing units. Mass deportations would make it worse. As Donald Trump prepares to take office and implement one of his key campaign promises, deporting immigrants, one question that's been asked is how it will impact the housing market. Who advanced and who fell short in the 30-man lineup for the 2024 Tour Championship?

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — The journey to East Lake for the 2024 Tour Championship and the conclusion of the FedEx Cup Playoffs has now reached its final stage, leaving just 30 golfers in the mix on the PGA Tour.

Every golfer who improved their standing also meant someone else had to fall below the cutline. This year, there were four notable shifts.

The most significant ascent was by Keegan Bradley, the winner of the 2024 BMW Championship, who climbed from No. 50 to No. 4. Meanwhile, two players experienced the largest drop of eight spots. Justin Thomas entered the week ranked 22nd, but by finishing strong with a final-round score of 68, he secured his place in the Toronto field—just barely.

Interestingly, Thomas received the news of his advancement while en route home.

“I’m just heading back home, going to Jupiter. There’s no need to stress over this all afternoon,” he shared with reporters before leaving the course, expressing a sense of disappointment in how things unfolded. “It’s tough, but it’s the situation I created for myself. I’m looking forward to a couple of nights at home before hopefully traveling to Atlanta on Tuesday.”

Now, JT can finalize those travel arrangements.

Before discussing those who missed the cut, let’s acknowledge the players who succeeded:

  • Keegan Bradley: from No. 50 to No. 4
  • Adam Scott: from No. 41 to No. 14
  • Tommy Fleetwood: from No. 31 to No. 22
  • Chris Kirk: from No. 32 to No. 26

Unfortunately, a few big names in golf did not advance.

Here’s a closer look at their outcomes.

Brian Harman — from No. 29 to No. 31

Brian Harman started the tournament in 29th place but fell two spots, unfortunate enough to miss the cut for advancement. He had a promising performance with birdies on Nos. 11, 13, 14, and 17, but his 18th hole proved disastrous, where he hit into a fairway bunker, overshot the green with his third shot, and eventually two-putted for a double-bogey.

Jason Day — from No. 25 to No. 33

Jason Day was the only golfer in the 2024 BMW field who had played in the last PGA Tour event at Castle Pines back in 2006. However, this week was challenging for him, starting in 25th but falling to 32nd by the end.

Although he carded six birdies in his first 11 holes, a triple-bogey 8 on the 14th, followed by a double-bogey on 15, severely hampered his chances.

Davis Thompson — from No. 26 to No. 34

Davis Thompson, ranked 26th going into the tournament, fell nine spots to 35th, effectively ending his playoff journey.

Denny McCarthy — from No. 30 to No. 35

Denny McCarthy entered the BMW as the “bubble boy,” sitting at 30th. However, after rounds of 71-74-69-72, he fell five spots and won’t be heading to East Lake.

Other significant players heading home

Will Zalatoris (Ranked No. 38)

Corey Conners (Ranked No. 39)

Max Homa (Ranked No. 46)

Nick Dunlap (Ranked No. 49)
