Charli XCX, the talented singer-songwriter behind “Brat,” had an exhilarating night at the Grammys, clinching her very first awards on Sunday.
At 32 years old, Charli joined notable artists Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone as part of the elite group of those nominated for seven awards this year, positioning her as one of the most recognized artists by the Recording Academy. Among her nominations were two prestigious “Big Four” categories: album of the year and record of the year.
The new Grammy winner wrapped up the evening with a captivating performance of “Von Dutch” and “Guess” from her album “Brat” at the Crypto.com Arena. Her set followed performances by fellow album of the year nominees including Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan. Earlier that night, she also won three awards during the pre-show, including best dance/electronic album and best dance pop recording.
In a feature for W Magazine, Charli expressed her surprise at receiving the Academy’s acknowledgment of her recent work.
“My vibe is just wanting to have a good time,” Charli shared with W. “Honestly, I wasn’t even on the Grammys’ radar last year, so I never imagined this happening. The fact is, I always have fun wherever I am, so I’ll manage to enjoy it.”
