Cher Withdraws Request for Conservatorship Over Son Elijah Blue Allman

Cher Gives Up Attempt to Be Conservator for Son Elijah Blue Allman

Cher has decided to withdraw her request to become the conservator for her son, Elijah Blue Allman.

After nearly nine months since Cher, 78, filed for guardianship over her 48-year-old son, her attorney announced on Friday that she wants to terminate the legal process, as reported by Rolling Stone.

The publication also highlighted that Cher’s legal team has asked Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui at Los Angeles Superior Court to dismiss the case without prejudice, which means she can submit another request later if she wishes.

In her filing dated December 27, Cher claimed that Allman, her only son with the late Gregg Allman, was suffering from “significant mental health and substance abuse challenges” that prevented him from handling his financial matters. Elijah Allman had opposed the conservatorship in his legal documents.

Allman’s legal team described her decision as a “significant legal win” in a statement to YSL News on Friday.

“Thanks to the strategic guidance of Avi Levy, a Partner in Los Angeles, and the legal skills of Steven Brumer, Lead Counsel in San Diego, the team successfully defended Elijah, leading to Cher voluntarily retracting her petition,” the statement conveyed. “This result allows the family to concentrate on healing and mending their relationship, a journey that started during mediation and is ongoing.”

YSL News has sought comments from Cher’s lawyers.

The withdrawal occurs nearly eight months after Cher’s request faced a setback when the judge ruled that “there was insufficient evidence” to appoint her as a temporary conservator for her son’s estate.

Allman previously indicated in court documents that a conservatorship over his estate was unnecessary and that he believed his mother was “unfit for such a role.”

He mentioned that after attending treatment for addiction and making poor financial choices in the past, he is now undergoing professional help and consistently participates in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

“Since I no longer have an ongoing divorce case, I think my wife would take precedence for the conservatorship if needed; however, I do not require that either,” Allman stated in response to Cher’s request. “Under no circumstances am I comfortable with my mother being my conservator, even if that were necessary.”
