Breaking: Chiefs Closing In On Trade to Land Five-Time Pro Bowl WR DeAndre Hopkins from Titans

With their passing game facing difficulties following a serious injury to star wide receiver Rashee Rice, the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly working on a trade to acquire five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, according to an ESPN report.

According to sources, the Tennessee Titans are set to trade Hopkins to the Chiefs in exchange for a conditional fourth-round draft pick.

Hopkins is playing in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Titans last July. Last season, he recorded 75 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns, but he sustained a knee injury this offseason and has had a slow start to the 2024 season.

At age 32, Hopkins has managed just 15 catches for 173 yards and one touchdown in six games this season.

Although the Chiefs are currently the only undefeated team in the NFL, their offense has not been as explosive as in previous years. Key injuries have significantly impacted the team, including Marquise Brown’s shoulder injury that placed him on injured reserve and Rice’s knee injury that ended his season in Week 4. Furthermore, starting running back Isiah Pacheco has been sidelined since Week 3 due to a broken fibula.

Since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback in 2018, the Chiefs have boasted a top-six passing offense every year. However, this season, they are averaging only 221.5 passing yards per game, ranking 12th in the league.

Adding Hopkins could provide the Chiefs’ offense with a significant big-play threat that they presently lack.

Hopkins was drafted 27th overall by the Houston Texans in 2013 and quickly became one of the premier receivers in the NFL.

Throughout his successful 12-year career, he has achieved four seasons with over 100 receptions and led the league with 13 touchdown catches in 2017. Overall, Hopkins has 943 receptions amounting to 12,528 yards and 79 touchdowns.
