Live Updates: Chiefs vs. Raiders – Score and Highlights from the Black Friday Game
On Black Friday, Kansas City will take on the Las Vegas Raiders, and just like hot cakes, Chiefs touchdowns could be flying off the board.
While the Chiefs’ offense hasn’t been as dynamic as it has been in previous seasons, it hasn’t hindered their success. Currently, Kansas City boasts a strong record of 10-1, dominating the AFC West.
The Raiders, however, are struggling in their division, sitting at 2-9 and unable to regain the spark that Antonio Pierce’s start brought. With no Gardner Minshew, the team will rely on Aidan O’Connell this Friday as they aim to break a seven-game losing streak.
This is a significant challenge, but with the holiday spirit, unexpected victories can happen.
YSL News Sports will bring you live updates, highlights, and more from the Black Friday clash between the Chiefs and Raiders below. All times are listed in Eastern Time.
Halftime Update: Chiefs Lead Raiders 7-0
The first half can be summed up by Kansas City attempting a 59-yard field goal before heading to their locker rooms. As expected, the kick missed, but the chance at an amusing return was thwarted as punter Matt Araiza made a tackle. Despite their struggles, the Raiders are still competitive at Arrowhead Stadium.
Scoring Update: Chiefs Go Up 10-3 with Mahomes to Watson Connection
With 2:14 remaining in the first half, the Chiefs finally score. Patrick Mahomes links up with Justin Watson for a six-yard touchdown pass, pushing Kansas City ahead with a score of Chiefs 10, Raiders 3.
Highlight Play: Kelce Lateral to Perine for First Down
Looking to spice things up in a dull first half, Kansas City’s Travis Kelce executed a clever lateral to Samaje Perine on a third-and-10 play, adding some excitement. Check it out!
Missed Field Goal: Carlson’s 56-Yard Attempt Falls Short
After a defensive stop, the Raiders had a chance to score but fell flat on their fourth down attempt. Daniel Carlson’s 56-yard field goal attempt was unsuccessful, allowing the Chiefs to take over around midfield with 5:55 left in the first half. The Raiders recorded 131 total yards compared to the Chiefs’ 100.
Raiders Tie the Game with Carlson’s Field Goal
The Raiders’ drive stalls at the Kansas City 10-yard line, despite Jakobi Meyer’s 86 yards from five catches. However, they settle for a 27-yard field goal from Daniel Carlson, tying the game early in the second half. It’s now 10-10 with 11:03 to go in the half.
First Quarter Summary: Chiefs Lead by Three
The first quarter saw little action, with the Chiefs managing only one field goal while both teams struggled with penalties. Referee Clay Martin was busy, throwing multiple flags during these 15 minutes.
Raiders First Drive: Minimal Progress Ends in Punt
Las Vegas’ initial drive led to just one first down and ended due to holding penalties. A J. Cole initially delivered a great punt, but due to a mistake by the referees, they re-kicked, and the Chiefs started their drive at the 23-yard line.
After the break, officials rectified the mistake, allowing the Chiefs an advantageous starting position.
Chiefs Kicker Change: Meet Matthew Wright
Due to injuries, the Chiefs have called on Matthew Wright to handle kicking duties. With Harrison Butker on IR with a knee injury and Spencer Shrader suffering a hamstring issue, Wright steps in, having previously filled in during Butker’s injury in 2022.
Chiefs Extend Lead with a Field Goal After Long Drive
Wright successfully converted a 25-yard field goal after a 13-play, 66-yard drive that took nearly 5 minutes off the clock. This gives the Chiefs an early advantage of Chiefs 3, Raiders 0.
Return of Isiah Pacheco: Running Back Back in Action
Pacheco made his return to the lineup for the first time since Week 2, receiving cheers from the fans. On his first carry, the Rutgers alumnus rushed for four yards, showcasing his aggressive running style.
