Are stock markets operating on Christmas Day 2024? Check the holiday schedule
The stock markets in the United States will close for the day on Tuesday, December 24, and will not reopen until Thursday, December 26, as they will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25.
On Christmas Eve, both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will close early at 1 p.m. ET. Additionally, the U.S. bond market will also end early on December 24, with a closing time of 2 p.m. ET and remaining closed on Christmas Day, as stated by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Trading will resume on Thursday, December 26, with regular activities expected to continue on Wall Street shortly after. The following stock market closure after Christmas is set for Wednesday, January 1, 2025, to observe the New Year.
Moreover, the bond markets will also close early on New Year’s Eve, with a closing time of 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 31. However, the NASDAQ and NYSE will operate until their usual closing time that day.
