Chrysler recalls more than 33,000 Ram 1500 trucks due to issues with electronic stability controls
Chrysler is recalling a number of 2025 Ram trucks because of concerns that the electronic stability controls might be inadequate.
The recall, communicated to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on October 24, affects approximately 33,777 trucks.
This recall involves specific 2025 Ram 1500 trucks that may have an issue with the front wheel hub encoder ring. If this component is compromised, the electronic stability control system may not function properly.
As a result, these trucks do not meet the standards set by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 126, which addresses “Electronic Stability Control Systems.”
How to determine if your truck is impacted by the recall
To see if your truck is part of this recall, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
In the recall search box, provide your license plate number, VIN, or the year, make, and model of your vehicle. You will then receive a list of related recalls.
You can also contact the FCA customer service hotline at 1-800-853-1403. Use recall number 97B for reference.
Notices to vehicle owners are expected to be sent out by December 19.
Understanding your VIN and where to find it
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique 17-character code assigned to every vehicle. You can typically find it on the left side of the windshield, on the driver’s side door, or in the area where the driver’s side door closes inside the vehicle.
What does electronic stability control do?
Electronic stability control (ESC) is an automated system that assists drivers in maintaining control of their vehicle. It reduces the likelihood of skidding during turns and helps prevent loss of control in emergency situations.
Using a network of sensors, the system activates when it detects a loss of control and adjusts throttle and braking to help the vehicle regain its intended path.
What steps should you take if your truck is recalled?
If your truck is listed in the recall, make an appointment with a local Chrysler dealership. The dealer will examine and, if needed, replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly at no cost to you.
