Clayton Kershaw’s Potential Comeback: What It Means for the Dodgers’ Postseason Aspirations

Will Clayton Kershaw make a comeback for the Dodgers in the playoffs? The latest on the experienced pitcher.

Clayton Kershaw, a starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers and a 10-time All-Star, has experienced both remarkable achievements and challenges in his postseason career.

Kershaw agreed to a one-year contract for his 17th season, but his journey has been impacted by injury. Since September 1, he has been out of action owing to a bone spur in his left big toe. Additionally, he has a player option for the 2025 season.

Despite his injury, Kershaw has stayed connected with his team and remained at Dodger Stadium. He received a warm tribute before a game on September 25, when fans were given a bobblehead resembling him.

It remains unclear if Kershaw will take the mound again. Here’s the most recent information regarding the pitcher.

Will Clayton Kershaw be on the mound for the postseason?

The last time Kershaw pitched in the playoffs was in 2023, where he struggled, allowing six runs in the first inning of the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. His manager, Dave Roberts, removed him before he could get two outs.

Recently, Kershaw was seen on video doing long toss before a team practice at Dodger Stadium. However, general manager Brandon Gomes shared an update that did not suggest Kershaw would be ready for this year’s NLDS.

“We will keep monitoring his progress,” Gomes informed reporters on Wednesday. “Everyone knows Kershaw; if he feels capable of pitching, he’ll do so, but at this point, he isn’t making any significant progress.”

Gomes’ remarks echoed what Roberts said in late September, indicating that Kershaw was in a “holding pattern.”
