Bill Clinton humorously remarks in his DNC address that he is ‘still younger’ than Trump, by two months.
On the third day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention held in Chicago on Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton took to the stage.
During his address, Clinton highlighted that a remarkable 50 million jobs had been spawned under Democratic leadership since the conclusion of the Cold War, compared to just one million under the Republicans. He also made a playful jab at former President Donald Trump for his frequent references to imaginary characters in his speeches.
Clinton’s presence at the DNC underscored a shift in the party’s direction from a focus on triangulation and NAFTA to embracing infrastructure investments and child tax credits.
Adding a touch of humor, Clinton joked about his age while also taking a playful shot at Trump’s age.
“The only personal vanity I wish to express is that I’m still younger than Donald Trump,” Clinton remarked.
Clinton turned 78 on August 19, while Trump marked his 78th birthday in June, making Clinton just a couple of months younger than Trump.
How old was Bill Clinton during his presidency?
According to the White House’s official website, Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States, serving from 1993 to 2001.
Having a birthday in August, Clinton started his presidency in January 1993 at the age of 46 and left office in 2001 at age 54.
Age a prominent issue during the 2024 election cycle
Prior to President Joe Biden’s announcement to not seek re-election, age was a significant topic in the 2024 election, with both Biden and Trump being the oldest elected presidents in history during their respective tenures.
However, since Biden’s withdrawal from the race and Harris stepping in as the Democratic nominee, age has become a less critical issue for the Democrats. Harris will turn 60 in October, while Biden is set to turn 82 in November.
