Bowl projections: College Football Playoff experiences another shift after Week 2
The college football season is just two weeks in, and already the College Football Playoff outlook has changed for a second straight week according to this week’s YSL News Sports bowl predictions. This shuffle certainly will not be the last.
In last week’s projections, North Carolina State and Oklahoma were dropped due to unimpressive victories. Meanwhile, Miami and Missouri took their slots. This week, we saw Notre Dame getting knocked out following a defeat against Northern Illinois, and Missouri leaving the ranks after a brief period despite another easy win.
Newly entering the playoff picture are Kansas State from the Big 12, benefiting from the vacancy left by Notre Dame’s exit, and Mississippi, which takes Missouri’s place as the SEC’s representative.
There are also adjustments among non-playoff bowl projections as teams fluctuate according to their early-season performances. As the season unfolds and conference games intensify, we’ll have a clearer understanding of these teams. But here’s how the current picture stands.
Note: Former Pac-12 schools in different conferences will honor existing Pac-12 bowl agreements through the conclusion of the 2025 season.
