Live Coverage: Colorado vs. UCF Game Updates – Scores, Highlights, and Analysis

ORLANDO, Fla. – Coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes arrived in Florida a day ahead of schedule to dodge the hurricane that struck the state on Thursday.

Now, they are gearing up for a warm, humid matchup against Central Florida, which boasts the top rushing offense in the country, averaging 375.7 yards per game.

Last week, the Buffaloes (3-1) pulled off a thrilling win at home in Boulder against Baylor, but they might need another miracle today against the Knights (3-0), who are favored by 14 points according to betting odds.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Fox, and this game is especially significant for Sanders and several players, including standout Travis Hunter, who hails from West Palm Beach, marking a unique homecoming.

A key concern is whether Hunter can effectively contend with the Knights. He has been instrumental in Colorado’s victories this season, partnering with quarterback Shedeur Sanders. However, this challenge may be more considerable—UCF has scored no less than 35 points in each game this season under Coach Guz Malzahn.

Stay tuned here for real-time updates, news, and highlights.

Travis Hunter Makes a Highlight-Grab Interception

ORLANDO, Fla. – Travis Hunter just pulled off an amazing play!

We keep expecting incredible things from him, but the Colorado dual-position star never fails to wow us. This time, he capped off a stunning interception against Central Florida, striking a Heisman pose right after, with just eight minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Hunter intercepted a pass from UCF intended for tight end Evan Morris along the left sideline.

Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, they were unable to take advantage of the turnover, as they ended up punting after advancing only to the UCF 38-yard line, with UCF leading 34-14 at 5:18 in the third quarter.

On offense, Hunter has recorded nine receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Colorado Expands Its Lead

ORLANDO, Fla. – Quarterback Shedeur Sanders of Colorado just guided the Buffaloes through their sixth scoring drive in seven attempts, extending their lead to 34-14 against Central Florida with 9:11 left in the third quarter.

The Buffs completed a 63-yard drive in just four plays, featuring a 32-yard pass to wide receiver Will Sheppard that set them up at the UCF 1-yard line. Freshman running back Micah Welch then powered through for a 1-yard touchdown run.

Welch has contributed 33 yards on four carries, aiding in the resurgence of Colorado’s ground game.

Colorado Leads at Halftime 27-14

ORLANDO, Fla. – At halftime, Colorado is ahead of Central Florida 27-14, with two field goals made in the last 42 seconds of the second quarter.

The first field goal was set up by another impressive play from Travis Hunter, who made a 29-yard catch from Shedeur Sanders on third down, prolonging the Buffaloes’ drive before they scored to go up 24-14.

Sanders escaped pressure rolling left and delivered the ball into coverage, where Hunter made a great snag near the UCF 40. After a brief offensive struggle, Colorado settled for a 36-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining before halftime.

Thanks to Alejandro Mata’s kick, the Buffs increased their lead to 24-14.

After UCF punted, Colorado took possession again and managed to set up a 46-yard field goal from Mata just before time expired.

At halftime, Hunter has seven catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Shedeur Sanders has completed 22 of 27 passes for a total of 225 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.

UCF Answers with a Jefferson Touchdown

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is keeping the pressure on Colorado with a response touchdown. Quarterback KJ Jefferson powered into the right corner of the end zone for a 7-yard rushing touchdown with 8:41 left before halftime, trimming Colorado’s lead to 21-14.

This touchdown capped an eight-play, 68-yard drive. Jefferson’s stats so far show him at 4-for-7 passing for 122 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Colorado Dominates Thanks to the Run Game

ORLANDO, Fla. – Colorado scored touchdowns on three consecutive possessions, taking a commanding 21-7 lead with 12:21 left before halftime. Running back Dallan Hayden, a transfer from Ohio State, broke through for a 14-yard touchdown run.

The Buffaloes have surged since recovering from a rough start marked by an interception from quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Their once-absent running game has come alive today with 59 rushing yards on 10 carries, shared among three ball carriers.

Colorado Takes the Lead Behind Sanders’ Performance

ORLANDO, Fla. – Shedeur Sanders of Colorado has been on fire, leading the Buffaloes to a 14-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. He directed two back-to-back touchdown drives, with touchdown passes of 23 yards to Travis Hunter and 47 yards to Will Sheppard.

By the end of the first quarter, Sanders achieved 12 completions out of 15 attempts for 115 yards, scoring two touchdowns along with one interception. The Colorado offense has also seen improvement in their running game, accumulating 36 yards on seven carries.

UCF Responds: RJ Harvey’s Touchdown

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF Knights answered Colorado’s touchdown almost immediately with one of their own on the very next play. Quarterback KJ Jefferson tossed a first-down pass to running back RJ Harvey on the left side of the field, allowing Harvey to outrun Travis Hunter down the field for a touchdown.

The left sideline was electrified as a 75-yard touchdown catch put points on the board with 3:38 remaining in the first quarter, leveling the score at 7-7.

Colorado Takes the Lead: Shedeur Sanders Connects with Travis Hunter for a Touchdown

ORLANDO, Fla. – The dynamic duo of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter is just getting warmed up. The Buffaloes are currently leading Central Florida 7-0 with 3:49 left in the first quarter.

In an impressive 80-yard, 11-play drive, Sanders, the quarterback for Colorado, connected with Hunter near the goal line for a 23-yard touchdown pass. Freshman RB Micah Welch contributed significantly with two carries amounting to 27 yards on this drive.

After two drives, Hunter has made four catches totaling 36 yards. Meanwhile, Sanders has completed 8 out of 9 passes for 35 yards and one touchdown, but has also thrown an interception.

Current score: Colorado 7, UCF 0 with 3:49 remaining in the first quarter.

Interceptions exchanged early in the Colorado-UCF game

ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s been a rough start with both teams throwing interceptions on their opening possessions. After a delayed kickoff, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders threw an interception right away, giving UCF a short field at the Colorado 29-yard line.

However, the Buffaloes quickly returned the favor when UCF’s quarterback KJ Jefferson threw a pass into the end zone that was intercepted by Colorado’s defensive back Preston Hodge. Before the turnover, UCF had run 10 plays but managed only 24 yards.

The game remains scoreless with 4:17 left in the first quarter.

College Football Predictions for Week 5

Experts from YSL News are prepared to share their insights on upcoming games in Week 5.

Rain and Rocket Launches Nearby UCF Stadium

ORLANDO, Fla. – A rainstorm struck FBC Mortgage Stadium about an hour and 40 minutes before the scheduled kickoff, forcing players to seek shelter inside the stadium. This downpour also caused Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton, who was visiting the field, to leave.

The duration of the rain is uncertain, as the weather has been unpredictable lately. At 1:17 PM ET, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission took off approximately 35 miles east of the stadium at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Unfortunately, the launch was obscured by the overcast sky.

About an hour before the game, the stadium’s video board was urging spectators to evacuate the seating areas.

“Inclement weather in the area!” the video board displayed. “Please exit the seating bowl immediately.”

Despite the warnings, many students remained seated behind the end zones.

Deion Sanders and Colorado Players Return to Florida for UCF Clash

Coach Deion Sanders affectionately refers to his players from Florida as his “Florida boys.”

This week, many of those players got to return home as the Buffaloes arrived in Orlando on Wednesday for Saturday’s game against Central Florida.

The official Colorado roster includes 18 players from Florida, which is only behind Texas with 21 players, and exceeds the number from Colorado itself (14).

There are actually more players with ties to the state as well. This list doesn’t account for Travis Hunter, who, though from West Palm Beach, moved to Georgia for his high school years. It also doesn’t include freshman starting offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, who is originally from Washington, D.C., but played at IMG Academy in Florida.

One notable mention is wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who returns home a local hero after making a Hail Mary touchdown catch last week in a thrilling 38-31 overtime victory against Baylor. Originally from Palmetto, Florida, he transferred to Colorado from Florida Atlantic along with his brother, Jaylen, who is a linebacker for the Buffaloes.

Sanders, who hails from Fort Myers, Florida, had his college career at Florida State. He’s made it a priority to recruit talent from Florida, noting the state’s impressive number of NFL players. Earlier this year, he also brought Orlando native Warren Sapp onto his coaching staff in a graduate assistant role. Sapp was notably a star at the University of Miami.

A Major Recruiting Weekend for Deion Sanders

This Saturday, UCF is set to welcome a large number of recruits. Deion Sanders hinted that many of them will actually be there to see the Buffaloes.

“I probably shouldn’t reveal this,” Sanders mentioned during his weekly CBS Colorado show. “But here’s the inside scoop. Numerous recruits who genuinely want to check us out are likely to register with the opposing team to attend the game.”

He guaranteed that the Knights will have their “most significant recruiting weekend” during this event.

“Every recruit in Florida will be along that sideline,” he stated.

Predictions for Colorado vs. UCF

ESPN: 82% Chance of Victory for UCF

The ESPN Matchup Predictor gives UCF a solid 82% chance of defeating the Colorado Buffaloes in their Week 5 matchup.

The Oklahoman: UCF Wins 34-31

Justin Martinez writes, “After their thrilling overtime win against Baylor last week, where Shedeur Sanders landed a Hail Mary touchdown to LaJohntay Wester just before time expired, Colorado pulled off an impressive victory. However, I don’t think the Buffaloes can replicate that luck against the Knights. UCF is currently leading the nation in average rushing yards per game (375.7), and they will likely capitalize on that strength to control the tempo and limit Sanders’ opportunities. While this matchup may be closer than anticipated, UCF is expected to prevail.”

Buffaloes Wire: UCF Wins 34-28

Jack Carlough asserts, “UCF is favored by nearly two touchdowns, which feels overly optimistic towards them. Nevertheless, Colorado’s issues with special teams and ongoing struggles on the offensive line make me lean towards the Knights.”

All-Time Record: Colorado vs. UCF

This Saturday will mark the first ever meeting between these two teams, with UCF holding a record of 3-0, while Colorado stands at 3-1, under the leadership of second-year coach Deion Sanders.
