A pastor from Dallas, Texas, has been suspended indefinitely from his church, where he has held his position since 2018, due to an “inappropriate relationship” with a woman, as stated by church leaders.

Trinity Bible Church announced Steven J. Lawson’s removal on its website after the elders learned about the relationship “a few days ago.” No details about the relationship or the woman involved were provided.

“The elders have met with Steve and will continue to support him with prayer, with the ultimate aim being his personal repentance,” stated the church. “Steve will no longer receive compensation from Trinity Bible Church of Dallas.”

At 73 years old, Lawson has over 40 years of pastoral experience, having served in Arkansas and Alabama before becoming the lead pastor at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas, according to his profile on OnePassion Ministries, an organization he founded and leads as president.

“In light of this incident, let us remember that we are all sinners. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and He continues to be the Head of His Church, which encompasses far more than any individual man,” stated Trinity Bible Church. “In fact, Jesus Christ will persist in leading His Church, including Trinity Bible Church here in Dallas, just as He has since our establishment on January 5, 2018.”
