Video captures masked thieves breaking through ceiling to steal $150,000 from Atlanta establishment
Authorities are seeking assistance from the community to identify two individuals seen on camera crashing through the ceiling of a check cashing location in Georgia and escaping with roughly $150,000 in cash.
Security footage from inside the shop recently revealed the masked criminals entering through the roof and landing in the lobby during the robbery that occurred earlier this month.
The incident transpired on September 3 at Atlanta Check Cashers, as confirmed by the Atlanta Police Department to YSL News.
Responding officers arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m. local time, approximately seven miles east of downtown Atlanta, after receiving reports of the robbery.
Upon arrival, investigators learned that two unidentified men had descended from the ceiling, taken cash from multiple drawers and a safe, and stuffed the money into a pink or red duffel bag.
Thieves in ski masks descend one-by-one into the business
The video reveals the suspects descending through the ceiling one after the other. One of the ceiling panels almost fell on an employee who was moving around near the desk, which is partitioned from the lobby by a window.
The first man to drop through promptly approaches an employee, causing her to fall to the floor.
The footage further shows the duo seemingly instructing the woman to unlock a safe located in the back room.
She complies, and the men start cramming bundles of cash into their duffel bags.
Before leaving the premises, one of the suspects adjusts his ski mask, revealing part of his face before exiting through the back door, where he is seen by a passerby standing nearby.
Details regarding the suspects involved in the Atlanta robbery
Authorities described the first suspect as a light-skinned Black male in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall. The second suspect was characterized as a dark-skinned Black male, around 5 feet 8 inches, with a slender build. No age estimate was provided for him.
A witness to the robbery mentioned that the suspects escaped in what appeared to be an older model (possibly black or green) two-door pickup truck driven by a third, unidentified individual.
Anyone with information regarding this case or the suspects involved is encouraged to contact the Atlanta police.
