The 2024 Democratic National Committee convention will kick off Monday evening, featuring a lineup of speakers, including former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), First Lady Jill Biden, and President Joe Biden, among others.

It’s important to note that Biden will not address the DNC as a candidate, following his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race in July. The 81-year-old’s focus will be to support Vice President Kamala Harris as she aims to succeed him in the upcoming election in November.

The convention kicks off its first day today and will continue until August 22 at the United Center in Chicago. YSL News will provide live coverage on YouTube every evening during the DNC.

The events on the first day will start at 5 p.m. EST and are expected to conclude around 10:15 p.m. EST.

When is Joe Biden scheduled to speak at the DNC?

Biden is set to be the last speaker on the first day. According to his aides speaking to the New York Times, he intends to underscore why Harris should be the leading candidate to continue his legacy.

The most recent speech from Biden took place on July 24, just three days after he announced his decision to exit the race.

“I hold this office in high regard, but my love for my country surpasses it,” Biden stated during his address. “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as your president. However, in protection of democracy, which is at stake, I believe it’s paramount to prioritize what’s beyond the title.”

The president also mentioned, “The strongest path forward is to hand over the responsibilities to a new generation.”

The convention will be streamed live from the United Center in Chicago, starting at 6:15 p.m. and running until 11 p.m. Eastern Time (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) on Monday, and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) on the following days.
