Delta Air Lines flight called off after crew’s error
Flight cancellations can often be attributed to factors beyond control, such as bad weather or mechanical failures. However, one recent incident involved a Delta Air Lines flight being canceled after the crew mistakenly activated an emergency slide before takeoff.
Delta Flight 419 was meant to leave Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on the night of January 23, heading to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
After the Boeing 767 landed at SEA from its prior journey, the crew inadvertently deployed the slide, according to a statement from Delta to YSL News. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as boarding had not yet commenced, so there were no passengers aboard.
The cancellation happened because the crew reached the limit of their duty time before the aircraft could be fixed.
“Flight 419 from Seattle (SEA) to Honolulu (HNL) was canceled due to damage to the aircraft prior to boarding,” a Delta representative stated.
Delta arranged alternative flights for the affected passengers heading to Honolulu.
