Diontae Johnson of the Ravens faces one-game suspension for team misconduct

Diontae Johnson’s tenure in Baltimore has begun poorly.

The Ravens announced on Wednesday that Johnson has been suspended for one game due to actions harmful to the team.

“We had to make the tough choice to suspend Diontae Johnson for our next game against the New York Giants because of actions detrimental to the team,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta stated. “This suspension follows his refusal to participate in our game against the Philadelphia Eagles. We will not provide any more comments on this situation.”

Since the Ravens have a bye week in Week 14, Johnson will miss the team’s Week 15 match against New York.

Acquired from the Carolina Panthers on October 29, Johnson has only participated in 39 snaps with the Ravens so far. He did not play at all in Week 13 against the Eagles, which is the game where he declined to enter, according to the team’s report.

In his time with the Ravens, the sixth-year wide receiver has managed just one reception for six yards.

Before joining the Ravens, Johnson spent five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After having challenges with the Steelers, he was traded to the Panthers in March 2024.

The 28-year-old athlete has recorded 422 receptions, 4,726 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns over the course of 88 games played in his career.

Ironically, Johnson’s first game back from suspension will be against his former team, the Steelers, in Week 16.
