Minivan enthusiasts are a special crowd, and the 2025 Toyota Sienna’s midcycle update reflects that. Instead of a traditional exterior redesign, this refreshed fourth-generation Sienna focuses on practicality for busy families, adding features like a vacuum cleaner, a refrigerator, and a safety alert to remind parents if a child is left in the vehicle.

If you think this sounds familiar, it’s because Toyota previously announced a vacuum and fridge for the Sienna back in 2020 with the launch of the fourth generation. Unfortunately, their supplier went out of business before any models could be equipped with these features. Thankfully, with conditions in the world and automotive industry stabilizing, we are hopeful that the 2025 versions, hitting showrooms this fall, will include these items.

The refrigerator and vacuum will come as standard features on the top-tier Platinum trim or can be added on the slightly lower Sienna Limited trim. Both of these handy items are located in the rear of the front center console. The fridge, dubbed FridgeBox, holds up to six bottles of water and offers two temperature options: chilling or freezing. It’s powered by its own dedicated compressor, allowing it to function independently from the car’s air conditioning, although it can’t operate when the vehicle is off.

Looking after your kids

To keep children safe inside, the Sienna features Toyota’s Advanced Rear Seat Reminder, a system designed to help prevent a child from being left behind. This standard feature across all trims uses a radar hidden in the headliner to detect movement in the second and third rows when the vehicle is off and locked. If movement is detected—even subtle, like the rise and fall of an infant’s chest—a chime will sound nine times. If no doors are opened within 90 seconds, the horn will sound until a door is opened. Owners can also sign up to receive alerts via push notifications, text messages, or phone calls.

More technology for adults

Most trims will see the center touchscreen increase from 9.0 to 12.3 inches as the Sienna adopts Toyota’s newest infotainment system, now including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the first time. However, the base LE trim goes in the opposite direction, with the 9.0-inch screen shrinking to 8.0 inches. The XSE, Limited, and Platinum trims also gain a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. A new Qi wireless charging pad offers faster phone charging, and all but one USB-A port has been upgraded to USB-C ports.

Interior upgrades include some minor changes, new wheel designs for the Woodland Edition and Platinum, plus the addition of Magnetic Gray Metallic paint. Mechanically, the 2025 Sienna remains the same as the 2024 model, with all variants using a hybrid powertrain that delivers 245 horsepower and offers up to 36 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, or 35 mpg with all-wheel drive.

As for pricing, there is an increase across the board, with the base cost of the Sienna LE rising by $1,500. Given that this model sees minimal updates, we expect similar pricing trends to follow.
